(Fermionic)Mass Meets (Intrinsic)Curvature
نویسنده
چکیده
Using the notion of vacuum pairs we show how the (square of the) mass matrix of the fermions can be considered geometrically as curvature. This curvature together with the curvature of space-time, defines the total curvature of the Clifford module bundle representing a “free” fermion within the geometrical setup of spontaneously broken Yang-Mills-Higgs gauge theories. The geometrical frame discussed here gives rise to a natural class of Lagrangian densities. It is shown that the geometry of the Clifford module bundle representing a free fermion is described by a canonical spectral invariant Lagrangian density. ∗email: [email protected]

The Higgs - Yukawa model in curved spacetime
The Higgs-Yukawa model in curved spacetime (renormalizable in the usual sense) is considered near the critical point, employing the 1/N–expansion and renormalization group techniques. By making use of the equivalence of this model with the standard NJL model, the effective potential in the linear curvature approach is calculated and the dynamically generated fermionic mass is found. A numerical...
متن کاملHigher derivative four - fermion model in curved spacetime
We discuss the phase structure of a higher derivative four-fermion model in four dimensions in curved spacetime in frames of the 1 Nc-expansion. First, we evaluate in our model the effective potential of two composite scalars in the linear curvature approximation using a local momentum representation in curved spacetime for the higher-derivative propaga-tor which naturally appears. The symmetry...

The definition of mass of a scalar field in a curved space has often been generalized by grouping coupling terms between the field and the Ricci curvature with non–curvature–related mass terms. In a broader point of view, one sees that a common misunderstanding resulting from such an identification leads one, in the case of the spin 2 field, to regard the cosmological constant as a non–vanishin...
متن کاملAnomalous Chiral Fermi Surface
We provide a geometrical argument for the emergence of a Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) term in a Fermi surface threaded by a Berry curvature. In the presence of external fields, the gauged WZW term yields a chiral (triangle) anomaly for the fermionic current at the edge of the Fermi surface. Fermion number is conserved though since Berry curvatures occur always in pairs with opposite (monopole) char...
متن کاملOn Ricci flat supermanifolds
We study the Ricci flatness condition on generic supermanifolds. It has been found recently that when the fermionic complex dimension of the supermanifold is one the vanishing of the super-Ricci curvature implies the bosonic submanifold has vanishing scalar curvature. We prove that this phenomena is only restricted to fermionic complex dimension one. Further we conjecture that for complex fermi...
